Ivaniuk Serhii

Serhii Semenovych Ivaniuk (January 7, 1952 – April 26, 2018) was a literary scholar, writer, Candidate of Philological Sciences, one of the founders of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Rector of the University from 1994 to 1998, and later a faculty member of the Department of Philology.
The collection began to take shape in 1992 with the first books donated to the Library. As of January 1, 2026, it comprises 2,079 items representing 1,604 titles. The thematic composition of the collection reflects the donor’s academic and professional interests and includes Ukrainian and foreign linguistics, fiction, literary criticism, and periodicals from the 1970s–1990s.
One of the most valuable and frequently consulted parts of the collection consists of bound volumes of Ukrainian and Russian literary journals containing works by domestic and foreign authors that are difficult to find in separate editions.
A particular treasure of the collection is Vasilii Askochensky’s Kiev and Its Ancient Educational Institution, the Academy (Kiyev s drevneishim ego uchilishchem Akademiieiu), published in 1856.
Serhii Ivaniuk passed away on April 26, 2018 and was buried at the Pushcha-Vodytsia Cemetery in Kyiv.
