Collection of scientific, educational, reference literature, and periodicals supporting the scientific and academic mission of NaUKMA. The library's collection is fully represented in the еlectronic сatalog, while its digital resources are accessible via the library's website pages: databases (A-Z), e-journals (A-Z), patents (A-Z), and the е-resourses collection within the electronic catalog.
As of January 1, 2024, the total library collection consists of 999,120 items, including 262,032 digital resources (56 databases).
The formation of the NaUKMA Scientific Library’s collection is a unique example of creating a nearly million-volume library, widely recognized in Ukraine and abroad, from zero items in a short period (since February 1992). 70% of the collection consists of books and periodicals donated by more than 5,000 individuals, institutions, and organizations from around the world. The collection is multilingual: publications in Ukrainian comprise 51%, English 23%, and the remainder in more than 100 other languages. The annual addition to the collection is 25,000–30,000 items.
The pride of the NaUKMA Scientific Library is its personal collections, which, as of January 1, 2024, includes 71 collections. These are private libraries of Ukrainian scholars and members of the Ukrainian diaspora from the USA, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Poland, and other countries. Two of these collections have formed the basis for independent library units: the Omeljan Pritsak memorial library and the James Mace memorial library.
The rare and valuable collection, containing over 14,000 volumes, and the scientific archive, which holds materials from NaUKMA faculty and researchers, as well as cultural, educational, and scientific figures from Ukraine and its diaspora, represent significant historical, cultural, and scientific value.
