"When the challenge of reviving the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy arose, it also brought the challenge of establishing a scientific university library. It was suggested that the basis for such a library could be the already well-established and robust personal libraries. The path we chose at that time turned out to be the correct one. The University’s Scientific Library was established primarily due to the generosity of many donors and collectors of extensive book collections.
The history of our library has evolved through contributions from individuals of diverse professions, interests, and financial backgrounds. They were all united by a shared lifelong passion for books. I had the privilege of knowing the owners of many of the collections that were gifted to our library. I want to emphasize the importance of documenting both the histories of these collections and their return to Ukraine."
