The collection of Professor Valerii Semenovych Zaika-Novatsky comprises 446 items representing 400 titles devoted to geography and geology, including a notable collection of maps of countries around the world.
Valerii Semenovych Zaika-Novatsky (February 16, 1924, Tomsk, Russian Federation – February 4, 1994, Kyiv, Ukraine) was a Professor, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, and a veteran of the Second World War.
In 1951, he graduated from Kyiv State University. From 1951 to 1993, he worked at the Department of General Geology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, serving successively as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, and Head of the Department. At the same time, he worked as a geologist, expedition leader, and senior research fellow.
From January 1993 until February 1994, he served as Professor at NaUKMA, where he taught the course General Geology and the History of the Earth.
